In-keeping with the 'footballers first' model, it's hard to believe that Figo could suggest the introduction of a sin bin without chuckling. He is proposing that players should be removed from the field temporarily if they verbally abuse the referee. Everybody knows the only reason kids grow up wanting to be footballers ahead of any other type of sportsman is for their license to harass, bully and intimidate a significantly poorer man who's sole job is to spoil their fun. In this day and age, Freedom of Speech is crucial. What sort of example is being set setting footballers are punished for their venomous tirades and utter lack of respect?
