10 Reasons Tom Brady IS The Greatest NFL Quarterback Of All Time
3. Controversy Brings The Best Out Of Him
Brady's tenure in New England has seen two major controversies show up. The Spy Gate scandal in 2007, for which the Patriots were fined $250,000 and lost a first round draft pick in 2008, and head coach Bill Belichick was fined $500,000 for their actions, and the Deflate Gate controversy after the AFC Championship game in 2015, which is yet to be resolved. Most controversies would make a negative impact on a player or a team, but in the case of Brady it had the opposite effect, it actually made him better than what he already was. After the Spy Gate controversy, Brady and the Patriots won their first 18 games of the 2007 season and reached Super Bowl XLII, where they lost 17-14 to the New York Giants. Brady was named the NFL MVP that season, his first MVP award. Following the Deflate Gate controversy in the AFC Championship game against the Andrew Luck led Indianapolis Colts, the Patriots went on to defeat the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 in Super Bowl 49, led by Brady's 328 yards and four touchdown passes, while winning his record tying third Super Bowl MVP award.
