10 Reasons Why England Can Win World Cup 2018
6. The Rise Of Raheem Sterling
In the Premier League, Manchester City were unstoppable this season, breaking records on their way to a historic title, and it's great to see that a small but important contingent of English players were involved in Pep Guardiola's success story. The likes of Delph, Stones, and Walker all played their part in City's victory march, but no English player stood out more than Raheem Sterling.
Much maligned in the past, especially by England fans, Sterling has undergone a veritable renaissance under Guardiola, scoring some breathtaking last-minute winners on his way to a personal best season, with 18 league goals scored and 11 assists too.
He's only scored twice for England, but that could definitely change this summer as Sterling links up with the exceptional Harry Kane and other top quality attackers like Marcus Rashford and Dele Alli. Sterling has been criticised in years gone by for wasteful play and poor finishing, but he's gotten a lot better and more confident in recent months, and could be a real X factor for the Three Lions in Russia.
