Although more recently City have the better head to head record (and who can forget the 6-1 thrashing at Old Trafford), overall it is United with the superior results. In 145 matches played, United have won 57 to City's 43, with 45 draws. That's 14 more wins for United fans to celebrate.

There was a period between 1993 and 2000 when United were the victors 7 times in a row, only conceding 4 goals in the process. Those 7 games were a part of a 15 match unbeaten streak against City for United. The men in sky blue had to wait 12 years before recording a 3-1 victory in 2002. The whole of the 90s proved fruitless in the search for a win and the 80s weren't much better, with City only coming out on top twice (although there were 6 draws in the 11 matches played).

United also have the rather satisfying statistic of more comeback wins under their belts, with 9 to City's 3.
