Torres may be the only fighter ever to be fired twice in a controversial manner. The tweet that got him fired was despicable and he deserved serious repercussions. It should have resulted in a fine or suspension. For him to be fired was rather harsh. All it took was one horrendous joke for one of the top bantamweights in the world to be released. At least it showed that the UFC doesn't play favorites to an extent. It only took a few weeks for him to earn his job back. In an interview with Ariel Helwani, Dana White stated that "Torres had apologized and did certain things that nobody told him to do". They give him a big fight against a major prospect in Michael McDonald and he got knocked out in three minutes. After that loss, he was once again fired from the company. I'm not sure if it was because of his contract, where he was one of the more higher paid fighters in the UFC-WEC merger. In the end, one of the most recognizable fighters in a weak division was released on two occasions.
