10 Shocking Incidents Luis Suarez Wants You To Forget

3. The Lack Of Silverware

This past 2013/2014 season Liverpool were inches away from their fist ever Premier League title. They had just dispatched of Manchester City and would all but guarantee their first league silver in over 24 years if they could just beat the normal looking Chelsea side who arrived in Merseyside on the 27th of April. Surely Suarez would do what he needed to do and hit the goals he needed to fire Liverpool to glory? Chelsea were even fielding a 21 year old debut in defence, with Jose Mourinho's entire side set up in anticipation of a battering. Suarez however went missing, just as he has done in other big games. He has 31 goals to his name this last season, but when it really mattered, he couldn't give Liverpool the decisive win they needed. Fair enough Jose Mourinho played a genius tactical subplot to make Chelsea two nil winners, and of course there was the Gerrard slip, but you get the feeling that Suarez as the 'talisman' should really have been the difference. People have tried to talk about the star in same sentences as Messi or Ronaldo, but ultimately, he has won no major league beyond the dutch title. Let's put it into context, someone like Manchester United's Chicarito has won the League twice, top players like Messi meanwhile have 6 league titles. Suarez want's you to hear about how great he is, but he want's you to forget that translated into silver his achievements are actually pretty limited.
