He was appointed club captain by Allardyce, but lost the armband after new manager Kevin Keegan awarded the captaincy to Michael Owen on 20 January 2008. While Geremi's quality from set pieces is not in question he was simply a shadow of the player we had watched play in Spain and under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.
