Ryan Mason finally made his Spurs debut in the Premier League this season, at the age of 23, having been at the club since the month of his sixteenth birthday in 2007. Having spent time on loan at the likes of Yeovil Town, Doncaster Rovers, Millwall, Lorient in France and Swindon Town, the midfielder can officially consider this season his breakthrough campaign, as he has been a mainstay in the Spurs first team since scoring a superb long-distance effort against Championship side Nottingham Forest in the Capital One Cup back in September. Since his arrival in the first team, while not exactly looking exceptional, he has provided the Spurs midfield with something fresh. Unlike most of the players in his position, Mason actually looks to pass the ball forwards rather than backwards or sideways and is the player most similar to Luka Modric that Spurs have had since the Croatian departed for Real Madrid. His effort and enthusiasm is second to none and for that alone he deserves better than what Spurs are doing at the moment.
