10 Spurs Players Who Should Have Earned More England Caps
8. Ian Walker
Caps: 4 Ian Walker spent no less than twelve years at White Hart Lane, starting out as a trainee, and was the first choice goalkeeper for around half that time. He took over first team duties from Erik Thorstvedt in the mid-1990s and was a mainstay between the posts prior to Neil Sullivan's arrival at the club in 2000. He made 260 Premier League appearances and 54 additional appearances in other competitions for the Lilywhites. Walker was a League Cup winner with Spurs in 1999 and was a consistently decent performer. However, he only won 4 England caps - and not all of those even came at Spurs during his prime years. This is, in part, due to the fact that he was believed to have been at fault for Gianfranco Zola's goal in a World Cup 1998 qualifier against Italy but, even so, when you consider that the likes of Fraser Forster already has 2 caps, Robert Green earned 12 caps and Ben Foster has 8, Walker definitely warranted more.
