10 Spurs Players Who Should Have Earned More England Caps

7. Chris Armstrong

Caps: 0 Chris Armstrong is a calibre of player so often referred to in an era when just about any top flight English striker gets a cap. Back in the day, players like Ian Wright, Les Ferdinand and Andy Cole barely got a look in, in comparison to the Gary Linekers and Alan Shearers of this world - because England had so many great strikers. These days, the Wrights, Ferdinands, Coles and even Armstrongs of this world would earn caps galore and, in most cases, be England's star goalscorer. Armstrong scored 48 Premier League goals for Spurs in 117 starts and 24 substitute appearances, which isn€™t bad at all, and he also scored a further 14 goals in 32 appearances in other competitions - and yet he was completely overlooked for the senior men's national team. A solitary England "B" cap is all he has to show for his great goalscoring record - which he also had at Crystal Palace - and that seems a real shame. He should have at least been given a chance.
