10 Spurs Players Who Should Have Earned More England Caps
5. Aaron Lennon
Caps: 21 Current Spurs player Aaron Lennon is a little different to the other entries on this list up to this point, in that it's not that he was overlooked too much by England coaches, it's just that he failed to live up to the potential he once showed as a youngster. Lennon is currently out-of-favour under Spurs' new boss Mauricio Pochettino, as his game hasn't really developed since he was a kid. He was always about pace and had very little in terms of an end product, so now that he is getting older, his pace isn't quite what it once was and he still hasn't developed other areas of his game, he has been found out by Premier League defenders. Lennon has 21 caps and made his debut as a 19 year old in 2006. He went to the World Cup that year and there were calls for him to replace David Beckham on the right wing, but his England career - rather like his club career - has only gone downhill since then. Had he developed his game and reached his potential, he could be England's first choice attacking midfielder today. As things stand, he's out in the cold.
