Romanian international Vlad Chiriches has played just two league games under Mauricio Pochettino, failing to even make the bench in seven attempts. Frozen out by the Argentine, nobody would be surprised to see the £7.4 million centre-back moved on in January. Having spent much of last season flirting with the first-team, and dealt a dose of injury, the Romanian has ultimately been a very underwhelming signing at White Hart Lane, and could well be next out the exit door. With defensive recruitments having been brought in during the summer in the form of Ben Davies, Eric Dier, Federico Fazio and the impending Deandre Yedlin, Spurs have moved to solidify their back-line - not that it has worked for Pochettinos men thus far. Chiriches decline in form since moving to the capital has been noticeable, as highlighted by a defensive mistake from which Besiktas capitalised in the Europa League earlier this season.
''In football, you always can make a mistake. It was an unlucky action, a difficult action in this moment. He made one mistake after another mistake, but we need to accept it because this is football. I am very disappointed, I am angry, I am frustrated and all that you want to say, but it is 1-1 in the end. We conceded in the last minute, which is very disappointing, and maybe frustrating. It is hard to accept this. - Mauricio Pochettino, October 2014.
Arsenal, Inter Milan and Roma have been linked with the former Steaua Bucharest star in recent weeks, but one thing is for sure - his days at White Hart Lane are almost certainly numbered.
