10 Sunderland Cult Heroes From The Premier League Era
10. Bolo Zenden
Bolo Zenden is one of the more understated members on the list, but he still wove his way into the hearts of Sunderland fans during his two seasons on Wearside. He was an experienced head, and was always going to be a bit-part player though he enjoyed a great spell as club captain and always brought an air of calm to the side, as well as flashes of magic. If almost any other player scored a goal like the one Zenden did against Spurs, that would be their club highlight. His tight-angle volley almost blazed a hole through the roof of the net, but it still wasn't his most memorable moment in red and white. His finest hour came during the 3-0 obliteration of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge when Zenden unleashed his finest 'dad dance' celebrating Asamoah Gyan's goal. It went viral, and the fans fell in love with the Dutch master. He left on good terms, and remains a fan favourite.
