10 Talented Players Who Failed At Arsenal

1. Sebastian Squillaci

During their two most successful spells under Wenger€™s reign, the Gunners have been blessed with two formidable backlines. The Arsenal boss had successfully replaced Adams and co with the likes of Sol Campbell and Ashley Cole during the early 2000s. Unfortunately, it would take some time to source suitable replacements for the Invincibles. Of all the poor defensive acquisitions made during that extended transitional period, Sebastian Squillaci had to be the worst. The defender had made 45 European appearances before his Arsenal arrival, winning trophies in France and Spain during his career too. As a French international of six years, the Gunners thought they were getting a solid centre-half that would help the club rediscover its best. What followed was one season of poor performances, followed by two spent on the sidelines and physio table. Squillaci moved to Bastia in the summer of 2013, having won nothing in three years in England. Arsenal would go on to win the FA Cup in each of the following two campaigns.
