9. And Has Been The Star Of Their World Cup Campaign
Kirsty Wigglesworth/AP/Press Association ImagesSince breaking his way into the national team, Alexis Sanchez has starred in two World Cup campaigns for Chile. He scored three times during his country's qualification for the 2010 tournament, and appeared in every match during the finals in South Africa. He then followed that up by scoring four times during Chile's qualification for the 2014 World Cup. At this summer's finals, Sanchez scored two goals for La Roja, opening the scoring in the 3-1 win over Australia and helping his country qualify from a 'group of death' that also contained the Netherlands and World and European champions Spain. He scored against Brazil in the round of 16, netting the equaliser in the 1-1 draw. However, he would then suffer heartbreak as he was one of three Chileans to miss their kicks in the subsequent penalty shootout, having his effort kept out by Julio Cesar.
