10 Things Floyd Mayweather Wants You To Forget

4. Running Scared?

Few boxing experts would dispute Mayweather€™s place as the single finest fighter of his era, but one name has dogged the latter part of his career in such a way as to tarnish his formidable reputation. Manny €˜Pacman€™ Pacquiao is a Filipino boxer who, like Mayweather, has won world titles in a range of weight classes and beaten many of the top names in his era. In contrast to the American fighter, Pacman has an all-action style that many observers find more engaging than the safety-first Mayweather; Pacquiao blitzed Ricky Hatton in two rounds and De La Hoya, in what would prove to be his last fight, survived eight rounds before throwing in the towel. There has been talk of the two squaring off for years now, but as they enter the latter stages of their respective careers a showdown is looking less and less likely. Nevertheless, negotiations between the fighters reached an advanced stage in 2009, with Pacquiao agreeing financial terms and consenting for the fight to be staged at the MGM Grand in Mayweather€™s backyard. Sadly, plans for the boxers to finally meet reached a dead end when Mayweather refused to sign unless Pacquiao agreed to Olympic-style drug testing performed by the US Anti-Doping Agency. There had never been any suspicion of Pacquiao using performance-enhancing substances, and all boxing matches are subject to the testing regulations of the state sanctioning each bout. Mayweather, however, would not budge, and boxing fans were left to wonder what might have been in what would have been one of the most eagerly anticipated fights of all time, and certainly the most lucrative. Many in the know believe that Pacquiao€™s speed and aggression may have proven too much for the American to handle, and Mayweather€™s reputation has suffered from what some perceive to be uncharacteristic cowardice with regard to fighting Pacman.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
