10 Things Man Utd Need To Learn From City & Liverpool

1. ...But United Could Also Go Through Decades Of Despair

Though Liverpool have proven that it is possible to go from seventh to second in a 12 month period, they have also shown that it isn't always easy to reassert yourself as the best team in English football. You have to go all the way back to 1990 to find the last time the Reds won the league. After dominating the game during the 1980's, winning three consecutive titles between 1981 and 1984, and five more throughout that decade, the arrival of Manchester United famously "knocked them off their perch" with the Red Devils going on to take their mantle as the most dominant team in Britain. All dynasties end. Liverpool haven't won a league title in 24 years, and there are some fans who have never seen the Reds lift a title in their entire lifetimes. It isn't inconceivable that United could go on and endure a similar barren spell - it could be another two decades until we see them win another Premier League as well. For United fan's sake, we hope not, but Liverpool and Manchester City have shown us that dynasties come and go, legacies begin and end, and that nothing is eternal.
