10 Things Man Utd Need To Learn From City & Liverpool

2. It Is Possible To Bounce Back From Seventh In A Single Season

Another lesson Manchester United could learn from Liverpool is that it is possible to bounce back from a seventh place finish in the space of a single season. The Reds did exactly that last term after ending the 2012-13 season in the same place. Two seasons ago, Liverpool finished a disappointing seventh in Brendan Rodgers's first campaign in charge after losing nine games, winning just 16 and amassing a 61 point total. They finished that season an astonishing 28 points behind champions Manchester United but, just a year later, leapfrogged the Red Devils to leave them in the rear view mirror. The speed of Liverpool's recovery will come as a comfort to United fans who will be hoping their club can enjoy similar resurgence and while most pundits don't give Louis van Gaal's side much of a chance of competing for the title come next May, Liverpool have shown that your past does not dictate your future.
