10 Things Steven Gerrard Wants Liverpool Fans To Forget

4. He Got Chased Around Liverpool By A Gangster

Sometime during the early part of his career, Gerrard was dragged into the murky world of Liverpool's gang culture, falling foul of one of the city's scariest fixers through no real fault of his own. According to reports in a number of local newspapers, the son of one of Liverpool's most notorious gangsters saw a young Steven Gerrard as the perfect way to prove himself. Legend has it that he began demanding huge sums of money from the player in an attempt to extort him. Going so far as to put bricks through his window while Gerrard was away on international duty. The affair came to a head one day when the two ran into each other in the city centre. After threatening to shoot Gerrard, the Liverpool captain departed the situation as hastily as he could but was chased through the streets in a car. Sometime later a number of the city's other hardmen, being both fans of the club and having a great respect for him family, "persuaded" his pursuer to leave Gerrard alone. So the story goes, anyway.
