10 Things UFC Want You To Forget About Tito Ortiz

6. Domestic Abuse

We would never be so brash as to argue that Tito Ortiz€™ relationship with adult film star Jenna Jameson was something the UFC would like us to forget. Who are we to judge what a person chooses to do in their private life with regards to the relationships they keep? However, it certainly does become problematic when allegations of domestic abuse become a public commodity. MMA€™s critics have this image of fighters as being Neanderthals, dragging their knuckles along and being unable to distinguish when they are in and out of the Octagon with regards to their behaviour. This couldn€™t be further from the truth €“ generally speaking, MMA fighters embody the respect and honour promoted by martial arts and once that final bell rings are perfectly likeable, ordinary people. When Tito Ortiz involved himself in the alleged domestic abuse of his girlfriend, Jenna Jameson, he added fuel to the already raging fire of people like senator John McCain who are so critical of the sport. In 2006 in an interview with Howard Stern, Tito Ortiz proclaimed his love for the adult movie star and merrily revealed that she would no longer be involved in creating pornography. However, Jameson became unable to put her career on hold and it was the mounting tension resulting from this decision which resulted in law enforcers being called to the couple€™s Huntington Beach home to arrest Ortiz for domestic violence. Ortiz €“ The Huntington Beach Bad Boy €“ was living up to his nickname, for all the wrong reasons.
