Daley Blind put in another solid performance at the heart of United’s defence alongside the ever growing Chris Smalling (or Mike if you are Louis van Gaal). The defence looks more assured than last season, only conceding once in the first 3 games.

Blind’s calmness on the ball and distribution are excellent, but the real test will come when United face a top 4 side like Manchester City or Chelsea. The Blind and Smalling partnership is working for now, but I still feel like United need a top class centre-back if they are going to challenge for top honours this season.
