10 Things We Learned From Newcastle's Open Training Session

7. Coloccini Is Fit Enough To Kick A Football

Fabricio Coloccini has been the subject of reported interest from Greek side Olympiacos, as well as a with a reunion with his former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace in recent weeks and he failed to play a single minute of Newcastle€™s pre-season schedule. However, it seems the Argentine is fit enough to kick a football. Coloccini was involved from the very beginning to the end of Newcastle's opening training session at St James' Park on Tuesday. Remy Cabella, who has been suffering from a thigh injury, was also present - as was Cheick Tiote - although the French playmaker trained alone for the majority of the session so he could avoid contact. It seems Coloccini is fit enough to kick a football and take part in high-intensity match situations though. Does that mean he could be in with of a chance of being selected against Southampton in the Premier League opener on Sunday? Only time will tell, but it is certainly not out of the question now.
