10 Things We Learned From Sheffield United 2-2 Newcastle

8. Rolando Aarons Is Capable Of Having A Quiet Game

After his heroics against Portland Timbers 2 last Wednesday - when he provided an assist and bagged a magnificent brace, including a brilliant overhead kick - Newcastle supporters were rightly waxing lyrical about their 19-year-old sensation. In fact, Aarons has only made six competitive first-team appearances for the Magpies - and all of them have been spectacular. Most notably, Aarons scored and assisted against Crystal Palace in the 3-3 draw last September, as well as netting the opener against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup at the Etihad in October. Yet it appears the England Under-20 international is human after all, and he can put in a quiet afternoon every now and again. To be fair Aarons was arguably one of Newcastle's best performers in the second-half after replacing Ayoze Perez at half-time. But, despite making a few darting runs down either wing and delivering a couple of dangerous crosses, Aarons was unable to influence the game as his teammates seemed to tire around him. This is not a criticism of Aarons in any way - it's simply trying to lessen the burden of expectation on his shoulders. He is allowed a quiet game from time to time - mainly because we all know he is more-than capable of producing the spectacular.
