10. Daryl Janmaat Highlights Ill-Discipline Is Still Rife In United Squad
This isn't the first time we've seen Daryl Janmaat receiving his marching orders... The right back has since apologised for his actions at the Liberty Stadium, but that doesn't excuse the manor in which he was sent off. After the performance Jefferson Montero put in last week against Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovi United knew what was coming. It was extremely worrying how they were incapable of dealing with it. Moussa Sissoko, who lined up in front of Janmaat, should have been constantly doubling up to nullify the threat of the Ecuadorian, who is fast becoming one of the most feared wingers in the Barclays Premier League. However, Daryl was left to deal with the fleet-footed Montero on his own. We all know our right back has a bit of a temper on him, and certainly makes sure to give it his all whenever he pulls on the black and white shirt. His full-blooded performances are what makes him the player he is and has led a lot of United fans calling for him to replace Fabricio Coloccini as the club's captain. However, sometimes, Janmaat's 'football brain' goes missing, and shows that the undercurrent of ill-discipline that has blighted the club for the majority of their seasons since they returned to the Premier League is still there. No matter how much work Steve McCalren, and Steve Black in particular, have done with them. That's now five red card in United's last 12 games which tells you everything you need to know about this current squad. When the chips are down and they are faced with a fight, they either go missing or lose their heads. We, rather shockingly, saw both play out on Saturday. It's fair to say that Newcastle's new coaching staff need to instil a new found spirit into the players or idiotic moments like we saw from Janmaat will eventually cost them. (They were never at the races at the Liberty and looked like a beaten side even before the right back was given his marching orders.)
