10 UFC Fighters Who Failed To Live Up To Expectations

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNAY2Zf_Rj8 Rameau Thierry Nkamhoua, best known as Sokoudjou, is a Cameroonian 29-year-old who has fought in every major MMA organisation there is and competed in a multitude of different locations. Coming into his UFC debut with a 4-1 record may suggest that he shouldn't have had such a tremendous hype train, but two of his four victories were impressive to say the least. One of these impressive victories was against current light heavyweight contender Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, or Lil' Nog, via 23 second KO in his Pride debut - a fight which many expected Nog to prevail in after the Brazilian notched up an impressive record including wins over Dan Henderson, Alistair Overeem and Kazuhiro Nakamura. The second, and ultimately the victory that led to his signature on a UFC contract, was a KO just shy of the two minute mark against tough veteran Ricardo Arona at another Pride event. Coincidentally, this was Arona's last fight before his unexplained disappearance from the sport. The future seemed very bright for the Cameroonian. Sokoudjou was then matched up against undefeated karate expert Lyoto Machida for his octagon debut at UFC 79. Machida ended up winning a very one-sided affair and that one fight pretty much derailed the hype surrounding Sokoudjou. After picking up a win in his next fight, he went on to lose against Brazilian striker Luiz Cane and was imminently cut from the UFC. Since his brief UFC spell, Sokoudjou has compiled a record of 9-7, hardly championship-worthy. You can now find the Cameroonian fighting in South Korean and Russian organisations - it's fair to say the expectations were not fulfilled.
