10 Underwhelming Spurs Signings Who Became Cult Heroes
7. Stephane Dalmat
It's been a decade sine Stephane Dalmat played his last game for Spurs, so don't be too hard on yourself if you haven't the faintest recollection of he was. After all, the French midfielder only spent a season on loan in the English capital from Inter Milan, registering 22 appearances and scoring a handful of goals. It may have been a short but sweet stay at White Hart Lane, but he certainly endeared himself to the Spurs faithful, lighting up a stagnating mid-table side with bright, attacking performances. Having failed to establish himself in Italy during a frustrating two and a half year period, the Spurs supporters were initially sceptical about his potential signing, but during his time on the pitch, he established himself as an all-action, willing player for the cause with the potential to excite. He did have a tendency to suffer with injuries for most of the season, however, which restricted him to just over 20 appearances, and while his attitude on the pitch was exemplary, his temperament off it left much to be desired. As a result, the decision to make his stay permanent was not taken up by the Spurs chiefs, so White Hart Lane waved goodbye to their latest cult hero.
