10 Weirdest New Signing Reveals In Football History
3. A Talking Football Announces Arthur - FC Barcelona
Imagine you work for FC Barcelona. You are part of their crack team of social media gurus and you've been asked to make a video to announce the signing of a new player. Not just any player, mind you. This is the man who is set to fill the boots of Xavi, one of your club's greatest ever players.
So this isn't an average assignment, it's for someone a bit special. So what do you come up with?
A talking football gives an extremely boring history lesson on "Barca' Style." That's what. Now, either this particular team of creators and producers were Messi-level angry at Josep Maria Bartomeu, or they just had a very off day. Only they will know.
The video is hard to watch. To start with, they manage to make the viewer dislike all of the club's players by over-selling "Barca Style". Secondly, a faceless football is the one doing all the narrating in the video. Simply put, the character looks extremely annoying. Lastly, nobody but the creators actually know what the video is about.
Towards the end, they mention that Arthur has signed for the club. More than half a minute of lecturing, with a five second mention of the Brazilian playmaker. Potentially the worst ever signing reveal of all time.
