9. Callum McManaman On Massadio Haidara
One of the most recent tackles to pass by a referee was Wigans Callum McManaman horror tackle on Newcastle Uniteds Massadio Haidara. McManamans poor attempt to win the ball, was not only reckless but completely mistimed. The video above shows McManaman clearly driving his studs into the knee of Haidara. Wigan manager Robert Martinez
defended the actions of McManaman by saying: I think we're taking things out of context here. I think the whole incident has been a bit of an argument about the refereeing in the game. It was a challenge with no real intent. It was an unfortunate incident that happens on a football pitch. Amazingly this tackle went unpunished by the officials on the day and also the Premier League who reviewed the incident days later.
