10 Worst January Premier League Signings Of The Last Decade

7. Kostas Mitroglou - Fulham

The word 'disaster' should only be used to describe the very worst signings in football. Those players who simply fail to add anything to a club. Greek striker Kostas Mitroglou is well-deserving of that description.

He signed for Fulham in January 2014. At the time, his arrival saw the Cottagers fork out a record fee for a player they hoped would help them stave off the threat of relegation.

It couldn't have gone any worse. Mitroglou failed to score a single goal and made only a handful of appearances as Fulham were relegated to the Championship. Following that relegation, Fulham quickly farmed the forward back out on loan, with Olympiakos picking him up.

Amazingly, Mitroglou has since had moves to European giants such as Benfica, PSV Eindhoven, and Galatasaray. He's done OK, too, meaning his spell in England might just have been a case of wrong player at the wrong time.
