10 Young Players Who Could Help England Win World Cup 2022
1. Phil Foden
In May of this year, Phil Foden became the youngest player ever to receive a Premier League winner's medal as Pep Guardiola's Manchester City side were crowned champions. Foden only made five appearances in the league, but that was more than enough for fans to see that this young midfielder could become a world-beater in the years to come.
Foden won the Golden Ball award as the best player of England's victorious campaign at the U17 World Cup and was in the Team of the Tournament for their European Championship win as well. He even won the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award, also won by Wayne Rooney way back in 2002, and Guardiola has repeatedly spoken favourably about the youngster's ability.
The 18-year-old might spend next season on loan to get more game time but has proven with City that he already has the talent to play at the top level. An exceptionally promising midfielder with excellent passing range and technical ability, Foden has been compared to Xavi and Iniesta and could develop into that midfield maestro the Three Lions so sorely crave.
