10 Young Players Who Could Help England Win World Cup 2022

8. Harry Winks

Once described by his manager Mauricio Pochettino as a "perfect midfielder", Harry Winks seems set for a very bright future at both club and international level. A product of the Tottenham youth academy, Winks made his big breakthrough in 2016, performing brilliantly in several Premier League games and belying his tender age with some really mature, intelligent football.

Unfortunately, an injury sustained in April of 2017 kept him out of action for the remainder of the season, but he made a great start in 2017-18 as well, earning a call-up to the England squad and standing out as one of the best players on the pitch when Tottenham took on European Champions Real Madrid in the Champions League group stage.

Again, injury kept him out for much of the season and also ruled him out of contention for the World Cup, but a role in England's midfield seems destined for the 22-year-old. Calm on the ball and accurate with his passing, Winks can bring additional composure to the England squad and seems to be just the sort of player the Three Lions need to help them go the extra mile. He'll be 26 for the 2022 World Cup and will hopefully have continued to develop into an elite player by then.
