11 Extremely Talented Premier League Footballers That Were Ruined By Injuries

1. Harry Kewell

Harry Kewell has been hailed by many as one of the most brilliant (though inconsistent) players to ever emerge from the Southern Hemisphere.

Handed his senior Leeds debut at just 17 years of age, the Australian was quite clearly destined for big things. Kewell slowly developed into one of the most talented wingers in the Premier League, and after a stellar 2002-03 campaign, he was snapped up by Liverpool, having rejected more financially lucrative offers from clubs such as AC Milan, Manchester United and Barcelona.

Though his debut season on Merseyside was impressive, things started to go downhill. Injuries such as a torn abductor muscle and a torn groin limited Kewell's game time in the following seasons, and he left the club after making only 12 league appearances in his final two years at Anfield.

Though the Australian had a good spell with Galatasaray, he was never quite the player that lit up the Premier League in years gone by.  Following spells in Qatar and his native Australia, Kewell retired in 2014.
