https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6soG_agvQZc Date: Sunday the 16th of August 2009 Venue: White Hart Lane Score: 2-1 (This goal put Spurs 1-0 up) It was the opening game of the 2009-10 season and Spurs had the tricky task of facing Liverpool at home. Spurs won a free kick around 25 yards out, just a minute before half time, and Tom Huddlestone stepped up to take it. Huddlestone's attempt was poor and it struck the Liverpool wall at waist height, but it fell to Benoit Assou-Ekotto who was stood to Huddlestone's right. The Cameroon international controlled the ball, took a moment, then thundered a left-footed shot on the bounce towards goal. The drive continued to rise and smashed in to the top right hand corner of Pepe Reina's goal to send White Hart Lane wild. It was Assou-Ekotto's first goal for Spurs and what a way to open his account it was. Steven Gerrard equalised with a 56th minute penalty, but a debut goal from Sebastien Bassong after 59 minutes won the match for Spurs, with Assou-Ekotto's goal being the highlight.
