11 Players Newcastle Fans Wrongly Thought Were The Future

11. Remi Streete

The writing isn't quite yet on the wall for Streete, who won the Wor Jackie award as the most impressive young talent in North East sport back in 2012, but it's not looking particularly good. He was sent out on loan to Port Vale this month, with a ringing endorsement from his manager that he would be no more than fourth or fifth choice at the club (great forward planning that, considering he would currently be third choice if he wasn't sitting on someone else's bench). And unfortunately for the player once viewed as Newcastle's best defensive prospect since Steven Taylor (don't laugh) when you're young and on loan from Newcastle, there's a very good chance your manager will never even remember your name when you come back. Loans are not used as they should be - to develop players - and instead prospects like Streete, whose career has been wrecked so far by catastrophic knee injuries (despite his massive desire to play for the club) and the chances that he will come back stronger and force his way up the pecking order are slim to none to put it finely.
