11 Players Who Stole A Living From Celtic

4. Mo Bangura

Signed From: AIK Fee: £2.2 million Like Adam Virgo, Bangura's case might have been a lot different if he hadn't been so susceptible to injury, but sadly, the player never lived up to his high billing - having been apparently recommended by Henrik Larsson - and crashed and burned at Celtic. The Sierra Leone international actually came into Celtic on the crest of a wave of excitement, having caught the attention of bigger clubs when he scored 12 goals in 13 games for IFK Värnamo, before moving to AIk where he scored 13 goals in 33 games. But rumours persisted about his injury record, which Celtic should perhaps have heeded, as Bangura went on to make only 16 appearances, scoring precisely zero goals despite a monumental ego and missing a hateful of easy chances along the way. He will mostly be remembered for his distasteful confession that he saw Celtic only as a stepping stone to a bigger move after a year, which so far has gone so well that he was released in January, and is currently playing for Turkish second-tier side Istanbul BB, in the same league as Shola Ameobi.
