11 Players That Represented Both Man Utd And Newcastle

6. Giuseppe Rossi

One of those horrible cases of 'what might have been...' The Italian's career rocketed after his respective spells at both Old Trafford and St James' Park, although a number of serious injuries has considerably softened the blow of his success. Rossi signed for Manchester United in 2004 after spending his formative years in Parma. Over the next three seasons he would make 14 appearances for the Red Devils' first team, but he would spend the first half 2006/07 campaign at Glenn Roeder's Magpies. Injuries and a preference to play the likes of Obafemi Martins and Antoine Sibierski would restrict the then 19-year-old to just 13 appearances and one goal. After spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Parma, he would return to Manchester but only last one season before Villarreal bought him for a reported ‚10 million.
