11 Potential Inaugural Premier League Hall Of Fame Inductees
6. Wayne Rooney
Even though Rooney is a divisive character in the history of English football to say the least, it simply would not be right to exclude him from this list. Rooney is mostly remembered for his time with Manchester United, but he also played for fellow Premier League side and boyhood club Everton on two separate occasions.
As the only player on this list still active as a professional player, Rooney started his career much later compared to other names included here. Rooney made his senior debut for Everton in 2002 and made an instant impact in the league. It wasn't long before the biggest clubs in the Premier League came swarming, and in 2004 Rooney made a permanent transfer to Manchester United.
Rooney enjoyed a decorated career with Manchester United, showered in silverware. While with United Rooney won five Premier League titles, 2008 Champions League, 2017 Europa League, 2008 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2016 FA Cup. He is also the second highest scoring Premier League of all time with 208 goals, second only to Alan Shearer with 260.
