11 Reasons Spurs Fans Should Be Concerned

6. A Leaky Defence

A consistent problem at Spurs has always been a leaky defence - and that doesn't seem to be improving this season. Mauricio Pochettino has acknowledged the fact that Spurs' defence is problematic by signing no less than four new defenders in Eric Dier, DeAndre Yedlin, Federico Fazio and Ben Davies - as well as a new defensive midfielder to protect the defence in Benjamin Stambouli and new goalkeeping backup in Michel Vorm - but Spurs will be Spurs and it doesn't seem to have made a difference yet. Last season, Spurs only scored four more goals (55) than they conceded (51) in the Premier League and, up to now this season, they have actually conceded one more (11) than they have scored (10) in the top flight. They have also conceded against AEL Limassol in the Europa League and against Nottingham Forest in the Capital One Cup, as well as a last gasp equaliser against Besiktas in Europe. Spurs really need to improve their defence, otherwise they will continue to concede silly goals - particularly against good sides.
