Ranking Sunderland's Signings Of 2014/15 From Worst To Best
8. Jack Rodwell - £10,000,000 From Man City
Jack Rodwell was Sunderland's most expensive signing of the season, and also one of the most underwhelming. The highly-rated youngster had been blighted with injuries throughout his early years with Everton and Manchester City, but looked set to get his career back on track at the Stadium of Light. Billed as a powerful box-to-box midfielder, Rodwell instead revealed himself to be a disappointingly cautious player. Shuffling eternally sideways like an overgrown Liam Bridcutt, he made a far weaker impression upon the Premier League than many expected. One positive was his admittedly impressive aerial ability, utilising his height and strength to full effect with headed goals against United, City, and Hull.
