11 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Sacramento Republic

4. Republic's Crest Houses An Image Of A California Grizzly Bear, A Nautical Star And The Motto "The Indomitable City"

Sacramento Republic's team colours are "old glory red, maple and egg shell" - displayed in the emblem above. Yeah, never heard of at least one of those "colours" either... As well as being displayed on their various kits, the colours also feature on the club's emblem. An "old glory red" nautical star - which also appears on California state's flag - is in front of an "egg shell" coloured background. In addition, a California grizzly bear, which also appears on the state's flag, is found on the badge seeing as it is California's official state animal. Finally, underneath the bear are the latin words "Urbs Indomita" - which translates as "The Indomitable City". This motto not only applies to the Republic, but also to Sacramento as a city on a whole.
