11 Things We Learned From York City Vs Newcastle

6. Andy Woodman Was Conspicuous By His Absence

Someone who was conspicuous by their absence at Bootham Crescent was goalkeeping coach Andy Woodman - who, just hours before the game, was linked with a reunion with former boss Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace. The Shields Gazette claim that Woodman is likely to move to south London but Palace are unhappy with the fee they will need to pay for the coach. Seeing as Woodman was not at the game in York, leaving Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot to warm-up by themselves, it seems like the rumours linking the goalkeeping coach with a move have some weight behind them. Eric Steele could replace Woodman at Newcastle, but the Geordie is now the Football Association's youth goalkeeping coach so Steve McClaren may not be able to tempt his former lieutenant to join up with him once more. Interestingly, Andy Woodman's son, Freddie, has also left Tyneside for Crawley Town on loan until January. Could Coloccini, Woodman, Pardew and Yohan Cabaye all have themselves a nice Newcastle reunion in south London?
