The Ajax home kit. One of the most iconic shirts in football, a simple body of red with white sides and sleeves. Easy on the eye and memorable for all the right reasons.

The new Ajax away kit. Blindingly green and ten times more powerful than the Sun. Want blurred vision? Work nights on a main road and need to be seen by passing trucks? This is the shirt for you.

Like something you can wear down the park and not get laughed at all the way back to your car? You're out of luck.

It's a big let-down for a club that this year celebrated its 115th anniversary because apart from the occasional multi-coloured Umbro training jacket Ajax and the 2011 offering (way too Coventry City) the 33-times the winners of the Eredivisie haven't screwed up their second shirt... Until now.

Retailing at €85 not even Ajax legend Johan Cruyff playing in his retired  number 14 shirt could save this dayglow disaster.
