Signed for £1 million following a successful trial in January 2013, the versatile Mbabu is yet to make a single first-team appearance for Newcastle. The former Swiss Under-19 international, who can play at centre-back or defensive-midfield, was rated extremely highly by the Newcastle coaching staff and Carr, yet he has failed to make the grade. Another player sent out on loan to Rangers in January, Mbabu also failed to make an appearance for the Scottish side.
