12 Players You Totally Forgot Played For Sunderland

11. Tal Ben Haim

Tal Ben Haim's career is a bizarre one. After starting out at Maccabi Tel Aviv in his native Israel, the defender moved on to Bolton Wanderers, then was stunningly snapped up by Chelsea during a spending spree under Roman Abramovich. He rarely featured, yet Manchester City took him on, where he played even fewer games. Ben Haim was then dumped on loan to Sunderland for five measly games before plying his trade for Portsmouth, West Ham, QPR, Standard Liege, and Charlton, before finally returning to his first club, Maccabi Tel Aviv. He wasn't the worst defender in Wearside history, but he was one of the most pointless signings. You'd be forgiven for forgetting Sunderland was a destination on his tour of the UK and beyond.
