12 Things Man Utd Want You To Forget About Sir Alex Ferguson
8. The 'Welcome To Manchester' Fiasco
Ferguson was world-renowned for his poker face during the height of battle and for playing cool, calm and collected mind games on his opponent just before a big game. But he was made to look like a chump when Carlos Tevez joined our cross-city rivals Manchester City in 2009 after his contract ran down, resulting in that cheeky poster plastered in Manchester City centre. The whole fiasco saw Ferguson lose his rag. The normally-composed coach fumed:
"It's City isn't it? They are a small club with a small mentality. All they can talk about is Manchester United. They can't get away from it. They think taking Tevez away from Manchester United is a triumph. It is poor stuff."
City had a good laugh at Ferguson's expense with that banner, while Tevez later came back to haunt us in the first leg of the 2010 Carling Cup semi-final.
