12 Things NUFC Fans Need To Know About Paco Jemez

10. He Took Rayo Vallecano To Their Highest-Ever La Liga Finish On The League's Lowest Budget

During his three seasons at Rayo Vallecano, Jemez has built a competitive and comfortable mid-table side on a minimal budget of just ‚18 million (£13 million) per year - more than 100 times smaller than near-neighbour's Real Madrid's annual spend. In his first season in charge (2012-13), Jemez guided his side to their highest-ever La Liga finish of eighth place, while he also led them to a more-than-respectable 12th in the last campaign. Currently Jemez's men sit 11th in the La Liga table, three points shy of ninth-placed Celta Vigo and just five behind the top seven. For someone who has had such a minimal operating budget, that is extremely impressive.
