13 Football Moments That Defined 2013

5. Bayern Munich Batter Barca, Win Everything

While Borussia Dortmund destroyed Real Madrid and Mesut Ozil moved to Arsenal in a Germany-oriented 2013, Bayern Munich topped the lot with a stunning win over Spanish giants Barcelona on April 23rd. The Brilliant Bavarian's battered the calamitous Catalans 4-0 in their first-leg of the Champions League semi-finals and if you thought that was a flash in the pan, Bayern went to the Nou Camp and gave Barca another licking - this time 3-0 - on May 1 to sensationally win 7-0 on aggregate. This victory was not only used as the springboard of which propelled Bayern to Champions League glory over arch rivals Dortmund in the Final, but it also signalled the changing of the guard in Europe as Germany replaced Spain as the continent's dominant nation. And for boss Jupp Heynckes, this Champions League win was part of a treble of trophies that also included the Bundesliga and German Cup as Bayern won everything.
