Romanian centre Gheorghe Muresan is the tallest man ever to play in the NBA, standing a towering 7'7". "George" spent a total of five seasons in the league, split by a spell in France's top tier. Despite struggling initially, he was voted the NBA's most improved player upon his return in the 1995/6 season. Muresan played for both the (now defunct) Washington Bullets and New Jersey Nets, but ended his career in the American Basketball Association - where he once unbelievably lined up against an even taller player, the 7'9" Chinese giant Sun Mingming.
