Yaya Toure's reported wages however put both Robin van Persie and his Manchester City teammate Sergio Aguero well and truly in the shade. The powerhouse midfielder is said to pick up a staggering £240,000-a-week at City, which still only makes him the Premier League's second-highest earner. He is by a country mile however City's highest earner, which says a lot when you consider they are one of the most profligate football clubs on the planet. Out-earning Aguero, Silva, Nasri and Kompany, Toure's wages just go to show how important he is to the Citizens, and they have been well-rewarded by their faith in the Ivorian. Toure scored an amazing 20 league goals last season and 24 in all appearances while his rampaging, long-busting surges through the heart of midfield help his side menace the opposition and gain a stranglehold on proceedings. The midfielder was a huge factor in City winning the league again last season and on his day can be more valuable than any striker.
