In a way, its probably surprising that Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri is only on a standard £40k p/wk salary at Bayern Munich - ever since they signed him from FC Basel two years ago, he has been nothing but a fringe player. Never a starter for the club, it looks as though the talented playmaker will finally be on his way during the January transfer window with Wolfsburg heavily linked with a swoop for his signature. While it is understandable that the bench-warmer is in no position to negotiate a stronger contract at the Allianz Arena, it must hurt his confidence somewhat that most of his team-mates are pocketing skywards of £100k p/wk, with fellow bench-warmer Claudio Pizarro somehow earning double his wage.
